Erishoth is a shy child, he does not develop relationships on his own. If asked, he would answer that he's fine being on his own. He has an unbreakable bond with his mother and that's all he needs. So what most often happens is that he leeches "friends" off of his mother or the other party has to do most of the initial work. He's not outright mean or unsociable, but he certainly won't be the one to start anything.
